School Flags
Green Flag
Our Green Schools Committee is made up of children from 1st - 6th class. The committee focuses on promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices in the school and wider community. Members are selected for their enthusiasm for helping in the community and caring for the environment. We are currently working towards our Biodiversity Flag.
Active Flag
The Active School Flag is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. St. Joseph’s were awarded the first Active Flag in 2016.
Students are encouraged to participate in team sports, with praise and support offered at every opportunity. Active Homework is promoted, and programs like Bizzy Breaks and GoNoodle are popular among all the teachers.
Amber Flag
The Amber Flag initiative is an initiative run by Pieta House which recognises the individual efforts of primary and secondary schools, youth reach, third level institutions, community groups, clubs and companies to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental wellbeing.
St. Joseph’s has been awarded the Amber Flag since 2020 and remains dedicated to promoting the well-being of every child to the best of our ability.
